Centerpieces Round Two

Oh. So of course I decided to change my centerpieces with two weeks to go. Luckily I will still be able to use the colorful pots (for plants of course!) and the lanterns (in our future garden/patio area). Also the lanterns can be used outside at the reception (if the weather cooperates). So the idea is to keep things simpler and less primary/"seussical." Also everyone who has seen the lanterns/pots said they look like lighthouses. No thank you!

Card Box!!

So my co-worker Katie told me about the box for cards she had made for her wedding. Basically you take four photo frames and attach them to each other with L-brackets to form the sides of the box. You use foam board for the top and the bottom, slitting the top for cards to fit in. Katie put hers on a lazy susan so it would spin and people can see all of the photos. I am proud to say that I made it all by myself! I love using drills for crafty projects. Here is the finished product. After the wedding you can take it apart and use the wall frames seperately or you can keep the box intact and use it as decorative storage.

Bouquet!

Whew! Sorry it's been so long.... we've both been sick and have had a lot of stuff going on here.

So I've been working on my bouquet since we got engaged. I didn't want flowers because they are too traditional, can be expensive, and they die. Bummer. :) I like unique and that's what I want my wedding to be. I am not your average bride. On the interwebs I came across the idea of doing a "button bouquet" and fell in love with it. I procured buttons in various shades of green, blue, and yellow. And here is my result!

Centerpieces

In addition to the button-flower filled vases as centerpieces, I thought of another good idea. Ikea has great white lanterns (which are very reasonable) and they are easy to spray paint! :) And they have flowerpots which I decided to use to raise the lanterns up in the middle of the table. (They are fun to spray paint too!)

Engagement Photos

So we got our engagement photos taken when we were home for our Bridal Shower.... fun times!! We went to the Saint Louis City Museum and met with our awesome photographer Teresa for the first time! We are extremely pleased with the results and can't wait to use them for wedding stuff!

Invitations

Stephen and I found a general template that we liked online. For the A + S monogram I sewed colorful buttons on white cardstock and spelled out our letters. I scanned the monogram and then cleaned it up on Photoshop for the invitation (and Save the Date, etc). Then I turned it over to Stephen!! :)

We collaborated on the paper products and then I made the invitation holder and assembled them all. It took a lot of time and multiple trips to Hobby Lobby!

So I've finally gotten all of the vases painted. I've been working on this DIY wedding for a while now and am having so much fun! I love spray painting!!! First of all the spray paint I'm using is freaking fantastic! Secondly I love to see something plain turn to fabulous with some great color addition! The idea is to have several colorful vases (filled with button flowers) on each table for part of the centerpieces!

Cake Topper!

Colorful button-theme abounds! Wooden letters I purchased at Michael's. I spray painted them green and then attached fun colorful buttons in our color scheme (Kelly Green, Royal Blue, and Yellow). Cheery, eh?

With This Ring....

.... I thee wed. Since my engagement is unusual we more than likely will not be able to find a wedding band to go with it (well, at least one that I liked). So we started looking around online. We both want something unique and interesting and I think we found it! There is a couple on ETSY that do their own metalwork and they specialize in fingerprint rings. Check them out at http://www.etsy.com/people/fabuluster. Here is what we decided to order...

There is a crazy process that involves imprinting your finger four times... each time you have to time everything right, boil water and make sure it is the proper temperature, etc, etc. Apparently Stephen has GREAT fingerprints... mine are horrid! This is what all of our hardwork earned us.

So far I've done two different sets of prints (eight prints in all). My prints are not making good enough impressions and ridge lines for transfer to the jewelry. And I will have to do another set when the kit comes in the mail. I wish my fingerprints weren't so faint!

Blog Chronicle

So. I've been having a fabulous time working on wedding stuff and I decided that keeping a visual record of it all would be a great idea!! Something to always remind me of how much time, effort, and love both me and my fiance put into this shin-dig... :)

Since I've already been working on stuff for quite a while I will try to get this up to speed on our whole DIY wedding. What we are doing is having a Spring wedding that is colorful, unique, and most of all FUN! I will chronicle most of the DIY stuff and not really worry about logistics of things like cake, dj, etc.

We'll see how this goes!
